Susan Sternthal of InnStyle, a member of the Advisory Council to the Board of Professional Association of Innkeepers International, will be attending the upcoming Innkeeping Conference & Trade Show January 23rd thru the 26th in Little Rock, AR.

The conference is sponsored by the Professional Association of Inkkeepers Internationa (PAII). The goal of PAII is to serve the industry nationally by providing programs and services that would enhance the professional skills of both active and aspiring innkeepers. From a tiny office in Santa Barbara, California, PAII has grown into a national organization of nearly 3000 members. Today, PAII is run by a professional staff based in Haddon Heights, New Jersey. It is governed by a nine person Board of Directors, with assistance and support provided by the PAII Advisory Council along with and numerous committees and task forces, including the Committee of 100, a voluntary group of innkeepers who serve as a ‘sounding board” ensuring they always keep our focus where their members want it to be. What is thread count for sheets?

Save Linens from Stains

Time is of the Essence so the earlier you catch a stain and treat it, the better your chance of removing it.  Different types of stains require different treatments and often times regular household solutions can be the key to removing stains.

Why not prevent stains before they happen by discouraging your guests from creating stains in the first place.  InnStyle offers amenities such as make-up remover wipes so your female guests aren’t tempted to use towels or light colored wash cloths for removing their makeup.

Here are a few ‘tips’ we call Simply Spotless:

1.  Find stains immediately
2.  Determine what kind of stain it is – if possible
3.  Pre-treat oil-based and fresh stains before washing
4.  Use cleaning solvents in a well ventilated area
5.  If stains remain, treat again
6.  Avoid washing & drying if you are not sure the stain is out
7.  Test bleaches before using them in the wash
8.  Do not use vinegar on acetate materials
9.  Do not use chlorine bleach on wool or silk
10. Prevent stains from happening

Bed Bug Protection

Reduce the occurrence and impact that bed bugs can have on your business.

Luggage bags are a common method of transporting bed bugs from one location to another, especially for airline travelers. When infested luggage is placed on a bed, bed bugs will look to hide under the bed during daylight hours and make their presence felt in the darkness of evening.

Consider having luggage racks in your rooms to discourage guests from using beds for unpacking their luggage.

Bed bugs favorite nesting places are mattress foundations (box springs) followed by mattresses and then other areas of the room that can provide shelter away from the light. Examples of these are: padded headboards, underneath furniture and behind wall hangings.
